Ege dancing towards a career in travel

Twenty-year old Ashlyn Ege is majoring in Communication Studies and is specializing in Public Relations, and she’s thrilled for her new position as PR Director of PRSSA. Ashlyn loves this Society because of the relationships she has made, but also the opportunities that it has given her. In her position, she is in charge of our social media and does a wonderful job at creating outstanding graphics.

“It’s collaborative and also individual. Teamwork is key, and I love being on E-board,” Ege said.

Ashlyn loves that SIU has great faculty and that the School of Communication Studies is very welcoming to their students. She also really enjoys the environment and opportunities that the campus offers.

There are many extracurriculars in which Ashlyn participates. She was part of the Southern Illinois dance company and also worked as a reporter for the daily Egyptian. Dance is a big part of her life and she has been dancing for 17 years. In Ashlyn’s spare time she likes to work with graphic design, is in love with hiking, and does a lot of research on National Geographic.

When Ashlyn graduates, she wants to travel! She also wants to work for a travel agency, or work for a producer to help outreach for artists as reputation management. Her favorite color is hunter green. She also loves seals because they are adorable and loves seeing them at the zoo.

With this semester being her first client lead, she has been an amazing leader. She demonstrates courage, respect, empathy, and leadership.

“I would describe her as down-to-earth, approachable, and reliable. It has been great to get to know her and work with her,” Maris Thornton, member of Ashlyn’s group, said.

We are very thankful to be working with Ashlyn. She always surpasses expectations and goes the extra mile to be a great PR Director and member of PRSSA.
