Allen putting her best foot forward

Jami Allen is consistently putting her best foot forward and working exceptionally hard in school and PRSSA. And we are so excited to share that she is our new, Outreach Coordinator for PRSSA! Jami is a current junior majoring in Communications with a specialization in Public Relations. After graduation, Jami hopes to move back up to Chicago and get her real estate career started. Not only is she heavily involved in PRSSA, but she is also in charge of Communication Career Council’s PR work.

At a young age, Jami wished to be a gymnast or a motivational speaker. That changed, however, as she grew older and set her sights on the path to PR. She says, “When I was in high school, I knew I wanted to go into public relations. I really liked the aspect that public relations is being a professional communicator. I really enjoyed communicating and thought it would be a good fit for me. I ended up being right, I love my major.”

Outside of school, Jami loves hanging out with her friends and staying active by working out and doing outdoor activities such as hiking. Her favorite spot in Southern Illinois to hike at is Giant City. When asked if she developed any quarantine hobbies, she said that she began cooking more often and especially loved trying new homemade cookie recipes. A few fun facts about Jami are that her favorite TV show is Game of Thrones, and her favorite movie is Tropic Thunder.

As a first-time client lead, she has risen to the task quickly. Her group members look up to Jami for advice and guidance. One of her members goes on to say, “Jami is so nice and organized within the group. She works well with others and demonstrates her leadership skills when working.” We are so lucky as an organization to have an executive member that goes above and beyond what is asked of her. We see a very bright future for Jami Allen!
